Xirouchakis, is a second generation dry-cleaner. His mother ran
her own dry-cleaning business for many years and still assists in
his tailoring department. Xirouchakis has over twenty-five years of
professional experience and is considered a master of delicate
cleaning and stain removal. He prides himself in his comprehensive
knowledge of fabrics and chemistry.
Indeed, his business motto is, "come to where the art of fashion
meets the science of chemistry."
Xirouchakis also has extensive experience with fur, leather and
suede garments, as well as the restoration of vintage pieces. When
the time permits, Xirouchakis travels nationwide as a consultant
and trainer to other members of the dry-cleaning profession. Johnny
is right at home amid racks of luxury and couture attire. His
business acts as "House Dry-Cleaner" for such upscale retailers as
Escada, Gianfranco Ferre, Valentino, Emporio Armani, and Burberry.
He also does work for the Frick Collection and Sotheby's.
Johnny Xirouchakis maintains a thriving wedding gown operation.
Alterations, cleaning and preservation top the list of services. He
has cared for heirloom gowns from three generations of brides and
he will gladly fulfill the garment care needs of the entire bridal
party, male and female.
There are no shortcuts taken at Crystal Couture Cleaners. All
incoming items are carefully inspected for stains, worn areas, and
necessary repairs. Then the items are classified as to the
type of cleaning method to be used. Delicate items receive special
care, which may involve hand cleaning. All items are carefully
inspected before final packaging and delivery.
Many of Manhattan's society doyennes and masters of the universe
maintain personal dry-cleaning house accounts with Crystal Couture
Cleaners. The garments are picked up and delivered on a daily
basis. Johnny has also been retained by top Broadway
productions as well as Hollywood studios and actors who want to
carefully preserve in perfect condition their important evening
wear - whether it is to return a borrowed gown, save it for a
museum or donate it to charity.
In addition to handling high-end garments and clothing,
household items such as linens, draperies, quilts and comforters
should be expertly cleaned to preserve the life of the dry-good.
Your draperies and your rugs always get the "red carpet" treatment.
Xirouchakis' staff will personally take down, clean and re-hang
drapes and curtains.
Johnny likes to tell an amusing story of his work. Once, when he
was spending some frustrating hours trying to remove extensive wine
stain from a Valentino designer gown, he asked his father, a Greek
Orthodox priest, for a little divine intervention. It wasn't long
before the stains, like magic, disappeared.
